Oliver Bright
Oliver Bright is the Production Engineer at Biohm, where he designs and develops machinery, equipment, tools, and systems to enable the evolution of our biotechnologies. He holds a MEng in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London and has a background in mechanical design and engineering consulting which shaped him into a multidisciplinary engineer, honing his expertise in research, product development, and commercialisation.
Working on early-stage technologies and their maturation to market readiness across sectors such as medical devices, food and beverage, consumer products, renewable energy, and agri-tech has fuelled Oliver’s passion for R&D, multidisciplinary collaboration, and biotechnological solutions that contribute positively to the climate emergency.
Nature's systems deeply influence Oliver's practice. He is inspired by the quiet, grounded, and symbiotic interactions found in natural ecosystems, striving to create engineering solutions that emulate ecological harmonies.
His love of nature stretches beyond Biohm. Oliver can usually be found hiking, cycling, camping, bouldering, gardening, experimenting with fermentation, and reading about the natural world. Growing up near the Peak District, a landscape that is rich in natural beauty and yet simultaneously scarred by the remnants of past extractive industries, gave him a deep appreciation of the interplay between human activity and the natural world. Witnessing emergent industries replace traditional ones set Oliver on a trajectory towards innovative, regenerative engineering.
